Wed, Apr 07, 6:30 pm - Belle Glade Branch

Join Belle Glade Library staff member Joe Dellosa for a conversation with Dr. Philip Nel, University Distinguished Professor at Kansas State University and the Director of the Program in Children’s Literature at KSU’s Department of English, about the Dr. Seuss controversy that goes beyond the headlines and hot takes. Topics to be discussed include Dr. Seuss’s early political cartoons and propaganda work, reconciling the anti-racist messages in some of his books with the racist content and imagery in others, and the legacy of Dr. Seuss, especially in the context of rising anti-AAPI bigotry and violence nationwide..
