The objective of this facilitated group is to explore the difficulties of peer pressure, mitigate risk factors to the onset of first use, and interrupt signs of maladaptive coping skills while simultaneously introducing students to practical tools through self- awareness, accountability partnerships, and an understanding of school and community-based support. Each module of the Middle School Substance Abuse Prevention series builds upon each other for each week of the series. The series follows a simple format of an open-ended question(s), vocabulary words, a short video by an LSIS prevention speaker, followed by an activity and a challenge beyond the session. Grades 6-8.
